ADVOCACY

Independent Living is defined by the freedom to live, work, and play alongside neighbors and co-workers. LICIL advocates for the protection of that freedom through its efforts to reach members of the community individually and collectively.

For individuals, we offer guidance and education in the development of effective self-advocacy skills necessary for pursuing personal success.

With respect to the larger community of people with disabilities, LICIL strives to promote and protect rights to equal employment, education, commerce, healthcare and civil and social participation. This is accomplished through initiatives for positive public policy change and development, as well as action and support for legislation that advances opportunities for individual choice and unfettered community access for people with disabilities.
